-   Masyarakat yang penyayang Peristiwa: Walaupun Farisha merupakan anak angkat, Azraai tetap menyayanginya seperti adik kandung. Azraai memasang ‘retinal scanner’ di pintu masuk rumah Farisha untuk memastikan keselamatan Farisha terjamin. -   Masyarakat yang tabah menghadapi cabaran hidup Peristiwa: Farisha tabah menerima hakikat bahawa Karl, seorang saintis terkenal yang terlantar sakit dan sedang nazak itu ialah bapa kandungnya dan Medina ialah ibu kandungnya yang pernah cuba membunuhnya semasa dia kecil. -   Masyarakat yang bertanggungjawab dalam menjalankan tugas Peristiwa: Dr. Haris bertanggungjawab merawat Karl. Dr. Haris menjerit mengingatkan Dr. Maxi agar segera menghentikan sesi komunikasi bawah sedar kerana Karl sedang nazak. -   Masyarakat yang bekerjasama dalam memajukan syarikat Peristiwa: Farisha dan Rosman saling bekerjasama membangunkan syarikat perkongsian mereka, iaitu Secured Shell. Mereka juga bekerjasama untuk menjalankan projek mini yang ditawarkan oleh Syarikat Soft Lab.

-   Masyarakat yang penyayang Peristiwa: Cikgu Amirulnizam amat menyayangi dan merindui anaknya yang jauh terpisah di Terengganu.  Oleh sebab Aiman sebaya dengan Ai Ling, Cikgu Amirulnizam  menyayangi dan melayani  Ai Ling seperti anaknya sendiri. -   Masyarakat yang tabah dalam menghadapi cabaran hidup Peristiwa: Haiqal Hakimi tabah menghadapi konflik dengan ibunya yang tidak membenarkan Haiqal menjejaki sejarah hidup arwah ayahnya, Cikgu Abdullah di Batu Pahat.  Haiqal tetap dengan keputusannya meskipun terpaksa bertengkar dengan uminya, Rafiqah. -   Masyarakat yang bertanggungjawab menyara keluarga Peristiwa: Tauke Ong bertanggungjawab mencari rezeki untuk keluarga sehingga anak-anaknya melanjutkan pelajaran ke peringkat yang lebih tinggi.  Tauke Ong bekerja kuat sebagai penoreh getah pada waktu pagi.  Pada waktu petang pula, dia meraih pisang untuk dijual di pekan. -   Masyarakat yang bekerjasama dalam menjalankan sesuatu program Peristiwa: Tauke Ong dan  penduduk Kampung Seri Purnama bekerjasama menjayakan majlis persembahan tarian zapin untuk dipersembahkan kepada Yang Berhormat Datuk Syaiful Azizi.  Bermula daripada mesyuarat, membuat persiapan tempat dan menyediakan jamuan, semuanya dilakukan bersama-sama dengan sepakat.

-   Peristiwa: Aqram, Dr. Maxi dan Khairul Anwar bekerjasama untuk menyelamatkan Dinara. Dr. Maxi telah mengarahkan Aqram menjejaki Farisha untuk menggodam sistem Dinara. Nilai kerjasama dalam menjayakan sesuatu pekerjaan. -   Peristiwa: Farisha dan Rosman bekerjasama memajukan syarikat mereka iaitu Secured Shell Sdn. Bhd. Nilai kerjasama dalam memajukan sesebuah syarikat -   Peristiwa: Karl bekerjasama dengan Medina bagi mencipta prototaip yang dikenali sebagai Alia. Nilai kerjasama dalam suatu pasukan -   Peristiwa: Shida bekerjasama dengan Farisha untuk menyemak undang-undang dan peraturan Soft Lab. Nilai kerjasama dalam melaksanakan kajian atau penyelidikan -   Peristiwa: Azraai bekerjasama dengan Rosman untuk menjejaki Farisha yang telah diculik oleh Medina. Nilai kerjasama dalam usaha menyelamatkan nyawa

-    Peristiwa: penduduk kampung Seri Purnama yang terdiri dan para penduduk bekerjasama membuat persediaan untuk menyambut kehadiran YB Samsuri dan pegawai Yayasan Wawasan Negeri. Nilai kerjasama dalam menjayakan aktiviti atau program yang dirancang. -   Peristiwa: Haiqal bersama dengan penduduk kampung berusaha untuk menghidupkan tarian zapin Jincat. Nilai kerjasama dalam memelihara warisan budaya -   Peristiwa: Golongan wanita yang bekerjasama menyediakan makanan untuk jamuan semasa majlis perasmian zapin di Kampung Seri Purnama. Nilai kerjasama dalam masyarakat kampung -   Peristiwa: Tauke Ong dan anaknya See Hwa bekerjasama dengan penduduk kampung yang terdiri daripada orang Melayu bagi menghidupkan tarian zapin. Nilai kerjasama dalam masyarakat pelbagai kaum -   Peristiwa: Golongan pemuda di Kampung Seri Purnama bekerjasama menyusun kerusi sebagai persiapan majlis untuk menerima kehadiran YB. Nilai kerjasama yang erat dalam kalangan golongan muda

Poem Poisoned Talk (Form 3) : Meaning

Stanza One

1	Who killed cock robin?	The person wanted to know who killed the cock robin (a male bird)
2	I, said the worm	The worm admitted that it killed the bird in a cruel way
3	I did him great harm.
4	He died on the branch of a withered tree	The robin died on a tree that was weak and dying
5	From the acid soil that poisoned me.	The acid soil was toxic and the worm was affected. The bird was affected too after eating the worm.

1	Who killed the heron?	The person wanted to know who killed the heron (a bird that feeds on fish)
2	I, mouthed the fish,	The fish confessed that it killed the bird because the fish was already poisoned or polluted.
3	With my tainted flesh
4	I killed tern, duck and drake,	In fact, the birds that fed on the fish in the lake died because of the poisoned flesh of the fish.
5	All the birds of the lake.

2	I, boasted Industry,	The lake was destroyed by the industry around it
3	I poisoned with mercury	Note: Mercury is an industrial waste that is released into the water. This toxic waste killed the fish, plant and weed in the lake
4	Fish, plant and weed
5	To pamper men’s greed.	To please people who were greedy and selfish, not caring about the environment.

1	Who killed the flowers?	The person wanted to know who killed/destroyed the flowers
2	I, moaned the wind,	The wind sadly admitted that it blew acid rain all over the place, without any control
3	I prowled unconfined,

5	Over field, flood and fen.	Acid rain destroyed the plants and trees, affected the water and wetland too.

1	Who killed the forest?	The person wanted to know who killed/destroyed the forest
2	I ensured that it died,	The forest was destroyed by sulphur dioxide (gas or liquid from the industrial processes and the burning of coal & petroleum. It dissolves in water to form acid and is harmful to plants and animals.)
3	Said sulphur dioxide.
4	And all life within it,	Sulphur dioxide destroyed all the creatures in the forest, including the worm and the linnet (small bird).

Question 12 :

The main character is a strong willed person. How is this shown in the novel? Support your answer with close reference to the text.

Sample Answer :

The novel Captain Nobody by Dean Pitchford that I have studied is about a boy name Newton Newman who created his alter ego - Captain Nobody during Halloween.

Initially, Newt was a timid person, but becoming Captain Nobody made his turn into a strong willed person.

Firstly, when Cecil asked Newt to help him retrieve the big bass drum at the top of the dumpster, he refused. This was simply because he was afraid of heights. But later, when he thought that he was the only one who could help Cecil, he knew he couldn‟t let his best friend down, he finally did it. He managed to climb the tall dumpster by reminding himself that Captain Nobody was a fearless hero. This proved that you can do anything if you have a strong will.

Next, Newt showcased his strong will when Newt saved Ferocious the Ferret. 

Ferocious was the mascot for Chris‟ football team and Newt had to take it home for the day. By chance, he met Reggie‟s cousin, Ricky. They argued and in the end, Ferocious‟ cage ended up left open by accident. Newt displayed his strong will when he risked his life to save Ferocious who had run onto the middle of the highway. He stopped the traffic in order to save it. Amazingly, through his strong will, Newt was not only able to save the ferret, but also a plane full of passengers. In my opinion, this incident clearly displays Newt’s strong will to take care of the responsibility entrusted to him.

Lastly, Newt displayed his strong will when he climbed up the Appleton Water Tower in order to save Reggie Ratner. For the second time he conquered his fear of heights. Reggie Ratner climbed the water tower so that he could write words of encouragement for his school but his foot ended up getting stuck between the beams on the tower. Spectators from underneath misunderstood that he was attempting suicide. Newt felt as though he was responsible for telling Reggie that he was not the one to blame for putting Chris into coma, which was why he climbed up the water tower. Newt’s action showed how strong his will was. Otherwise, there was no was a 10 year old boy could do what Newt did. He knew that he could help so therefore that was exactly what he did.

To conclude it all, these evidences proves that the main character, Newt, displayed very strong will despite his young age. I personally believe that just like Newt, we can achieve what we hope to achieve if we have the strong will to do so.

 “Having a strong family relationship is essential in one’s life.”

How is this shown in the novel you have read? Support your answer with close reference to the text.

Sample Answer :

Based on the novel Captain Nobody written by Dean Pitchford that I have studied, the story had shown a strong family relationship between Newt and his family. A strong family bond is essential in one’s life as it is clearly portrayed by the main character Newton Newman who is always seeking for his parent’s attention.

Firstly, Newt was sickly worried about his brother Chris after the Big Tackle accident which put Chris into a coma. This tragedy influenced Newt‟s mood as he was not really excited to celebrate Halloween. This showed that a strong family relationship is important because anything bad happened to our family could also affect us. In my opinion, this event taught me to appreciate our family as long as long as they are still alive.

Secondly, Newt’s everyday routine is preparing the breakfast for his family. He would prepare breakfast even though no one ate his cooking. Newt showed how caring he is towards his family although he never gets the love he deserved. In my opinion, whatever happens to us, as a child we must always do good deeds to our family to ensure we keep a good relationship between each other in the family.

Thirdly, is when Newt’s parents took care of Chris when he was in the hospital. They take turn to take care of him. Even though when Chris was healthy, they did not spend too much time together, it was good since they really pay attention to Chris when he needs them. In my opinion, it shows that strong family bond will give him strength to get well soon. It will also help in tighten the family relationship.

As a conclusion, it is important to have a strong family relationship as one cannot live without their loved ones. This story has shown a great family bond by making family love as a theme of the story.
